I believe that the issue with Madden is it's a bad game at its core. 2K is a good game at its core, it mired in diarrhea. Additionally, it helps that basketball is simpler to sim + can readily be made and scaled around a single player. Madden has that's because it's a itch as game mode, the reason why they lean into MUT so much and zero hooks. Once someone finally hits their peak in watching the best receiver at NBA 2K inexplicably drop a pass because NBA 2K chose the defender is going to receive his hands in the way, along with the animations lock into this route ahead of the pass reaches the recipient, they are not coming back. 2K has plenty of avenues to improve matters, tons of work to do, but at its heart it is not simply downright busted or frustrating like Madden.
