Kirana Gharana Music Academy is presenting a summer intensive workshop in Hindustani classical vocal, tabla and keyboard. The workshop is being conducted by the renowned performer of Kirana Gharana, National Awardee Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, who is acclaimed for his masterly performances in India and abroad and his ingenious works in music. He has 15 years of experience of conducting workshops for the organizations like Sahitya Kala Parishad, Shree Ram Centre, Spic Macay, etc.
The tenure of the workshop will be one month where the participants will be trained to present the raga, thaika or instrumental piece.
What you can expect from the workshop
The participants opting for the vocal workshop will be presented with the richness of Hindustani music via the elaboration of chosen raga, and be enabled to dive into the exquisiteness of the raga, conjuring its mood by eloquent delivery.
Participants will also be presented with semi-classical forms such as ghazal, sufi, bhakti geet, etc.
The concepts like music sadhana, singing with tanpura, comprehension of structure of the raga, presenting the raga expressively, recognizing the raga, use of the raga in semi-classical forms will also be elucidated.
The participants opting for tabla workshop will be introduced to various thaikas, and trained to present a few of them in different layas. The distinction of thaikas for the semi classical forms such as thumri and ghazal will also be explicated.
Similarly for Kathak Dance all the nuances can be learnt from the maestro
The participants opting for keyboard workshop will be introduced to Indian and western notations. Training will be given to present instrumental pieces based on various songs and the co-ordination of the keyboard player with the vocalist.
